Iceland Travel - Reykjavik

Embark on an unbelievable Iceland vacation with Hurtigruten, the Iceland travel experts. Iceland, located just south of the Arctic Circle is the world's 18th largest Island, and Europe's second largest. Over 62% of it is wasteland a mountainous lava desert, with lakes and glaciers covering almost 15%. Since only one quarter of Iceland is vegetated, Iceland travel is limited. Add to this the fact that Iceland is one of the most geologically active areas on Earth and you begin to realize just how spectacularly unusual an Iceland vacation really is.

Hurtigruten's Iceland vacations center around the magnificent Reykjavik. The pure energy of this capital city makes it a vacation spot you will never forget. Reykjavik provides panoramic views of mountains and the Atlantic Ocean on almost all sides. It is framed by the majestic Mt. Esja and the fabulous blue waters of Faxofloi Bay. The western horizon boasts outstanding views of the Snaefellsjokull glacier while Laugardalur Valley, the center for sports and recreation, has a beautiful botanical garden teeming with woods, ponds and exquisite birdlife.

An Iceland vacation is an incredibly exciting, magnificent adventure, filled with sights and sounds that almost boggle the mind. From Hallgrimskirkja Church with a landmark tower that can be seen from almost anywhere in the city, to The Pearl, a remarkable building that houses huge tanks of natural hot water that heat the entire city, the architecture is as diverse as the people who inhabit it.

If you are looking for the extraordinary, an Iceland vacation will rival almost any other remote vacation spot you can imagine.
